Keystone is home to the talented and versatile Nova Scotia Duck Tolling Retriever. We are a small, family-based breeding program striving to produce tollers that embody the breed standard, exhibit versatility, have excellent work ethic, and are pleasant to live with. We do this through careful evaluation of temperament, conformation, aptitude, health, and genetics - only breeding superior dogs that meet or exceed our standards.

The Toller is a versatile and companionable breed developed to be used as a hunting companion. According to the breed standard, “The toller's strong retrieving desire coupled with his love of water, endurance and intense birdiness, is essential for his role as a tolling retriever”, it also states the toller is “highly intelligent, alert, outgoing, and ready for action”.  As such, we require our puppies to be fulfilled by breed-specific activities like hunting, agility, hiking, etc. The standard describes the toller as “affectionate and loving with family members.” We know that all our puppies will spend much of their time as beloved family pets. So we feel strongly about our goal to produce puppies with excellent drive, birdiness, intelligence, biddability, AND sound stable temperaments with a great 'off switch'.
